About the Translation The Message is a presentation of the Word of God crafted for a modern age. Eugene H. Peterson, translator and editor, learned from his years of teaching and pastoring that most people, through familiarity or frustration with the Bible, were missing the whole message of Scripture. The Message gives us the Word in a language we use every day. It is a reading Bible that penetrates our hearts and minds, transforming us day by day into the person God desires us to be. Sample Text Psalm 1:1 How well God must like you-- John 3:16 This is how much God loved the world: He gave his Son, his one and only Son. And this is why: so that no one need be destroyed; by believing in him, anyone can have a whole and lasting life. 2 Timothy 3:16-17 Every part of Scripture is God-breathed and useful one way or another--showing us truth, exposing our rebellion, correcting our mistakes, training us to live God's way. Through the Word we are put together and shaped up for the tasks God has for us. Revelation 10:10 I took the little book from the Angel's hand and it was sweet honey in my mouth, but when I swallowed, my stomach curdled.
